Welcome to Noise From Below (the Fog), a heavy metal blog focused on the latest and greatest of the San Francisco Bay Area. 

From Exodus and Autopsy to Neurosis and Necrot, the Bay Area has been a petri dish of some of the most innovative, uncompromising metal acts for the past 40+ years. Something must be in the water, right? Maybe it’s the fog. Either way, think of this blog as your one-stop shop for staying up to date on all things Bay Area heavy metal, and particularly for keeping up with the best new metal releases from the Bay.

I should also note that while I do enjoy most styles of metal, I do have my biases and will favor some subgenres over others. My most sincere apologies to all the nu metal diehards out there. Keep it real, but this blog may not be for you. I’m also not going to love everything I listen to, but since I still want to document as much as possible, you’ll see some good, some bad, and some ugly on here. Most reviews will be for albums that I enjoy, while “New Noise” posts will cover any and all new local metal releases.

Outside of this blog, I have a one-man black metal project and listen to jazz, rock, trance, and ambient. I love binge-watching tv with my girlfriend, taking our dog on walks around the East Bay, hanging out with our cat, and noodling around on my guitar.
